Copenhagen. The Church of Scientology Denmark, located on Nytorv in the heart of Copenhagen’s medieval city, is extremely well-attended, whether for informational lectures, Open House events, pre-booked tours or by passersby who come in and visit the permanent exhibition in the Church’s Information Center. However, the number of visitors for a single evening broke all records during this year’s Culture Night on October 11, when over 1,900 visitors came within 6 hours.

On Culture Night, visitors came in to visit the information center, talk to members, get a tour, take a stress test, or just walk around and look around. When asked directly, they said they had chosen to come in simply because they were curious to find out what goes on in a Church of Scientology. And judging by the responses to a survey, their curiosity was satisfied, as 92% found the visit educational, exciting, informative, really good, etc.
One visitor said: “Thank you for opening the doors. It was really exciting to be shown around and talk to someone who has been there for more than 25 years.” Her friend added: “I was very pleasantly surprised by how professional, well-organized and beautiful it all is. We are super happy that we chose to go in here, it has been a completely new and positive surprise.”

The Church of Scientology Denmark celebrates its 60th anniversary in Denmark this year, and since the Church opened in new premises on Nytorv in 2017, the Church has placed great emphasis on inviting interested parties in so that they can get answers to their questions and see the place. For example, the church’s information center is open every day from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., something that thousands of passersby have taken advantage of, and the church has also had over 6,500 people visit, who have participated in free pre-booked approximately 2-hour lectures with tours, something that high school classes, cultural associations and university students in particular have taken advantage of. On top of that, the church has held dozens of Open House events on all sorts of socially relevant topics and Open Stage Art Nights, where new artists can come and perform.
Due to the great interest and curiosity, the Church has also started to hold weekly introductory lectures starting this past summer and still going to date, where the large chapel, which you can enter directly from Nytorv, is repeatedly filled to capacity. Topics covered include “The subconscious has power over you” or “Have you lived before this life?”

These lectures are often given by the Church’s daily leader, Mikkel Jørck, who is himself a third-generation Scientologist, and whose grandfather, Knud Jørck, was the first to fill his car with books by L. Ron Hubbard and take them home to Denmark after a trip to England, after which he began to spread knowledge of the subject.
“I am sure that both my father and grandfather would have clapped their hands if they had experienced the great interest that still exists in learning more about L. Ron Hubbard’s groundbreaking discoveries and effective methods,” says Mikkel Jørck. “It is a privilege to follow in their footsteps, and just like them, I find it incredibly inspiring to introduce Dianetics and Scientology to people who have never heard of it from us before.”
The Church also held regular Church services, including weddings, name-giving and funerals over the past year alone.
